50 books in 2009 - update 4

Here's update 4 for my "50 books in 2009" goal. OMG - I'm soooo behind! At this rate, I'm seriously doubting I'll be able to hit 50 books before December 31 hits. I think it's because I'm reading some seriously heavy books lately and it's taking me a little while to get through them.

Also, I just glanced at the list and I haven't read anything besides Tudor/Elizabethan historical fiction! Is that a little obsessive?

If you have any favourite books that you think I might enjoy, please leave me a comment or send me an email! I'd love to hear some of your book suggestions as I'm always look for something good to read!

1. I, Elizabeth by Rosalind Miles, finished Jan. 18
2. Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir, finished Jan. 27
3. Miss Marple's Final Cases by Agatha Christie, finished Jan. 30
4. Brief Gaudy Hour by Margaret Campbell Barnes, finished Feb. 8
5. The Last Wife of Henry VIII by Carolly Erickson, finished Feb. 18
6. The Lady Elizabeth by Alison Weir, finished Mar. 3
7. Elizabeth by David Starkey, finished Mar. 11
8. A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson, finished Mar. 31

If you need a break from this genre and want a quick but satisfying read, I loved "The Life of Pi." My students were really into it when I was a teacher, so I decided to try it. It was not a teen book by any sense, but it was a great story.

I love Elizabethan era fiction! I'm guessing you've read "The Other Boleyn Girl?" I read it a coupla years (I think) before it became a movie and didn't see the movie but very much enjoyed the book. In other genres: "Water for Elephants" and "Belle Canto" are fabulous--the kind of books that you get completely wrapped up in. At least I did :)

Fabulous Pants - Oh! I read The Life of Pi about 5 years ago when a co-worker suggested it to me. Lovely book! Very original.

Briga - I love Philippa Gregory! I've read all her books surrounding the Tudor/Elizabethan era. My favourite was The Queen's Fool. Hmm, off to check out your other recommendations as I've never heard of them before. Thanks!

Hi Clare! Yes, I read Margaret Irwin's trilogy last year (I bought all 3 books at the same time and blasted through them).

I'm currently reading King's Fool by Margaret Cambell Barnes and I LOVE it!

My favorite book of all time is Night Jasmine. It is a great read! It is the only book I read that I finished in 2/3 days cause I couldn't put it down. It is hard to find though so you might have to order it cheap of of amazon but I will guarantee you will not be disappointed!
