Give us the basics:
My Etsy name is "VivaceCrafts". I'm from Wisconsin, woot! I make nerdy jewelry and accessories. Mainly the items are off-the-beaten-path and geeky but they are still feminine and pretty (at least to me!). Resin is my favorite medium :)
What’s your favourite smell?
My favorite smell is definitely freshly baked lasagna!
How long have you been doing your craft?
I've been specializing in resin jewelry since about May, constantly changing and perfecting my methods for different styles. I've been making jewelry since I was in highschool. I've been a fan of crafting overall, though, since I was a little girl.
Who/What inspires you in your craft?
My parents are definitely my "who"s. My mom always supports my pieces and gives me her honest opinion. My dad finds broken computer parts for me to use as well as packaging materials. They are amazing! My studies in the sciences are the "what" for my craft...I'm such a nerd.
What do you like least about your craft?
Oh man, for the resin it's definitely the smell!
What’s a normal day for you?
A normal day for me is a rather crazy one! Since I'm a college student I wake up at like 7:30, check my email to see if I got sale or a message. I'm in class pretty much all day and then I scoot over to my part-time job. I come home at about seven. Crafting is definitely my creative outlet. I spend about an hour or more to make new items and work on promoting my Etsy store. Eventually I have to do all my homework (which takes hours), practice my violin (I'm in a cool, folk band) and then go to sleep.
What advice would you give Etsy sellers just starting out?
Keep with it and involve your friends and family. My friends love to look at everything and they really appreciate getting freebies. My family thinks it's neat and tries to help promote with their friends. Definitely keep with it, too! Don't give up and be original.
How do you discover new things on Etsy?
I am always browsing through the categories. I love to look at stuff I can't make... like knitting and papercrafts. I'd like to give a shout out to ahetland.etsy.com here! She makes AMAZING cards!
